Sylvain Flanagan
slides and sound pieces
A cliff, a river and a plain
No news, brother
Kamehameha
Taking a series of slides in a row: landscapes, portraits and recording sounds from vocal
performances that are done in the privacy of the studio, a combination is made of the slides and the sounds into multi-screen projections with a soundtrack. They stand in between audio-visual installations, live performances and movie projections.
"Exploring non-textual languages, I try to find cracks in the relationship we have to both images and sounds. I look for openings in between the slides, in between an image and a sound, in between two sounds. I explore these in between spaces to decompose the idea of a soundtrack."
— Sylvain Flanagan
